Gualdera is a small hamlet in the municipality of Campodolcino (SO). The place has a typical mountain landscape with quiet woodland and valleys, and is particularly appreciated for excursions and trekking opportunities. A main feature of interest is the artificial lake near the Palude del Fieno which has a wide range of fauna and flora. The lake, surrounded by wooden walkways, is framed by woods and meadows. The area is particularly rich in berries, blackcurrants and raspberries and mushrooms.
The Casa Alpina St. Luigi Guanella in Gualdera is named for the saint who had a vision of the Virgin Mary on the day of his First Communion. The Baita del Nonno was his family’s first home.
