A vast sandy plain extends out at the foot of Capo Tindari embracing shoreline freshwater lakes with warm, clear waters. The lake area is called Marinello and is influenced by the constant morphological variations caused by the actions of the sea which modify and redesign the shape of the beach. The 400-hectare area became a riservanaturale orientata in 1998.
The Sanctuary of Maria Santissima di Tindari, dedicated to the Black Madonna of Tindari, stands on the top of a hill overlooking the lakes of Marinello in the territory of Patti (ME).
