Sipicciano, hamlet of Graffignano, is a small village in Upper Tuscia almost on the border with Umbria. It is located on a high plain dominating the Tiber Valley. The first settlement, on the peak of a tuff rock cliff, dates to the 5th century. The borgo includes the Palazzo Baronale (15th century) and the monument complex of the former Church of Santa Maria Assunta in Cielo, which houses the Baglioni Chapel, entirely frescoed with depictions of the miracles of St. Francis, an example of late-Mannerist painting in the Viterbo area (16th century). Outside the historical centre, the Church of St. Bernardino houses precious frescoes dating to the 14th century. Surrounded by a park of century-old plants and with its little Church of St. Vincenzo, Villa Lais (the 18th century residence of the Fabbrucci-Appolloni-Lais families) is also interesting from a historical-artistic perspective.
