The Stazione radioastronomica Croce del Nord is an astronomical observatory in the municipality of Medicina, approx. 30km from Bologna, managed by the Istituto di radioastronomia dell'INAF – Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (Italy’s National Institute of Astrophysics).
The Station comprises two data-collecting instruments: the great “Cross of the North” and the 32m-diameter parabolic antenna. The Cross has two perpendicular rows of antennas, respectively 564m (East/West) and 640m (North/South), with a gathering range of over 30,000m working on the 408 MHz frequency.
