Description

The former Chiesa del Gesù in Asti dates to the mid 16th century. Annexed to the ancient Monastery of the Poor Clares by Vincenzo Seregno, an engineer from the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano, the building is today part of the Paleontological Museum. The apse of the church and the terracotta façade in two stacked orders, separated by pilaster strips and crowned with a triangular pediment, can still be seen from the outside. The single-naved interior houses one of the most important decorative works by Asti-native Gian Carlo Aliberti: the large fresco of Gloria del Paradiso.
