Spinola Castle rises steeply on the right bank of the river Scrivia, in the area of Isola del Cantone (GE). Historical sources suggest that the castle dates to sometime after the feud of Isola was acquired by the Spinola family in 1256. The Mignacco family bought it in 1865 and made it into a residence.
Later modifications have entirely changed the primitive medieval square layout, with its corner towers and large inner courtyard. The quadrangular loggia was built in 1628 and three storeys were added to the central body of the building. In addition to the loggia, the present-day structure presents many picturesque and fascinating settings such as the gardens and the courtyard with well.
