Parco Frassanelle in Rovolon (Padua) is a historic estate of about 200 hectares, that belonged to the Papafava dei Carraresi family (descendants of the da Carrara family, lords of Padua from 1318 to 1405) from the 13th century. The estate is nestled on the northern slopes of the Regional Park of the Euganean Hills.
Alberto Papafava dei Carraresi built the park and the caves between 1860 and 1880, at the height of the Romanticism: he intended to reproduce every possible type of landscape in a single uncontaminated space, making use of the natural shape of the hills and designing routes in the rock with lawns and woods of oak, ash and exotic trees.
Parco Frassanelle also comprises a monumental farmhouse (1601), a severely Neoclassical villa (1822), approximately 80 hectares of farmland, an 18-hole golf course and several farmhouses.
