The Region of Tuscany has earmarked €4 million for non-repayable grants benefitting micro-enterprises, small businesses, medium-sized Italian, European or non-European businesses in the film and audiovisual production sector.

The call, which expires on January 29, 2025, intends to facilitate the implementation of projects in the region, supporting investment in audiovisual productions with the aim of:

  1. promoting the growth, resilience and competitiveness of Tuscan MSMEs operating in the cinema and audiovisual sector, along the supply chain;
  2. enhancing Tuscan technical-artistic professionalism in the sector;
  3. attracting European and non-European production companies to Tuscany, while promoting co-production agreements; co-participation in productions; international productions with national and local producers;
  4. promoting the "Valore Toscana" – “Tuscan Value” through the creation and development of works capable of creating interest on the international market and distribution;
  5. contributing to the promotion of the Region’s artistic, cultural, naturalistic and landscape heritage, its lesser-known attractions, including non-urban areas and also promoting the dynamicity of the region’s economic ecosystem.

The maximum grant, which will not exceed 50% of the costs (60% for co-productions between several Member States; 80% for difficult works; 100% for co-productions with OECD DAC countries), varies depending on the type of work:

  • € 20K for short films;
  • € 50K for documentaries;
  • € 250K for feature-length films;
  • € 200K for series.

Eligibility requirements include a spend in the region of: 100% (minimum) of the grant for short film and documentary projects; 150% for feature films and series.

The grant application - in Italian - must be submitted electronically through the information system “Sistema Fondi Toscana” (SFT), available here.
