CANNES - The Torino Piemonte Film Commission has been working alongside the cinema and audiovisual industry for 25 years, starting with Santa Maradona by Marco Ponti, one of the first films supported. Stefano Accorsi who played a leading character in the film, shot entirely in Turin in 2001 in six weeks, expressed his support. Piazza Emanuele Filiberto, Piazza Maria Teresa, Piazza Castello (consult the location page) are some of the most iconic places in the capital city of Piedmont: "Thanks to the Film Commission” said Accorsi, “Turin opened a path, shifting the geography of cinema".
“Over these 25 years we have promoted and supported over 2000 projects in the region, a truly remarkable number. And this brings us to where we are today” noted Beatrice Borgia, President of the Film Commission during the event at the Italian Pavilion in Cannes. This meticulous work brought 228 productions, including 19 feature films, to Piedmont in 2024. “In recent years we have worked to strengthen and improve every lever available” continued Borgia. “On the one hand, collaborating with all our stakeholders, and on the other increasing regional funds: with the Piedmont Region, for 2025, we have tripled - if not quadrupled - the resources available for productions. We have also started collaborations with banking foundations, such as the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo - which I always like to mention - thanks to whom we have introduced a new development fund, which acts as a bonafide incubator for new projects. And last but not least, we have activated important synergies with universities: for example, we published our first social responsibility report with the University of Turin, a result that makes us very proud”.

The Film Commission has also worked hard on another front: supporting the production chain as a whole, from development to distribution, for a variety of formats: from films to documentaries and short films. “This is something we care deeply about, because we don’t want to be limited to supporting only the key moment of production, we want to look at the entire life cycle of the product”.
A fundamental tool is the regional Piemonte Film TV Fund (see the summary sheet), which started at € 1.5 M and has now reached € 7M, destined for feature films and TV series, both live action and animation. The presentation was attended by 8 of the companies involved in the Integrated Supply Chain Project "ICT" - Alps Studios, Are Film, Cinefonie, Fargo Film, Imago VFX, Louis Nero Film, Making Movies & Events, OMDT, it was also the setting for the announcement of the winning projects of the first session of the Piemonte Film TV Fund (part of the PR FESR Program of the Piedmont Region) which has a total budget of €7M for 2025. The grant evaluation process assigned €3.7 M to the following 13 projects - 12 feature films and 1 animated TV series - which will translate into approximately €11.3 million in qualified spending in the territory.
