With pride and renewed momentum, the Ischia Film Festival announces the start of a new and significant collaboration with Italy for Movies, Italy’s official platform for the promotion of locations and audiovisual production, commissioned by the Directorate-General for Cinema and Audiovisual of the Ministry of Culture and created by Cinecittà in collaboration with the Italian Film Commissions. From this prestigious synergy comes the “Italy for Movies Award”, a special recognition that aims to enhance Italian production excellence and boost the audiovisual industry’s impact on promoting the country, growing film tourism and attracting cultural and economic investment.
The new award, created thanks to the unwavering commitment and strategic vision of Italy for Movies, represents a fundamental step in Italy’s consolidation as an established film destination at the international level. Through continuous monitoring, advanced research and the systematic mapping of Italian sets in the “On Set” section, Italy for Movies is today an essential tool in developing audiovisual policies in the regions.
The inaugural edition of the new prize was awarded to Enzo Sisti, producer of the international Netflix series Ripley, which was filmed in some of Italy’s most iconic locations. The series is an excellent example of a virtuous production model, which combined the highest artistic quality with a refined awareness of the landscape, architecture and national cultural heritage, thereby consolidating Italy's place in the global audiovisual scenario.
“Our country is always a special destination for international productions: here they find a huge variety of scenarios and settings; professionalism capable of managing top-level projects; and a favorable system of incentives and tax credits promoted by the Ministry of Culture”, highlighted the Director General of Cinema and Audiovisual Nicola Borrelli. “In its 8 years of activity, Italy for Movies has contributed significantly to raising awareness of Italy as the ideal destination for anyone who wants to visit, whether operator or tourist”.
“With the inauguration of the Italy for Movies Award”, noted Michelangelo Messina, Artistic Director of the Ischia Film Festival “we celebrate Italy’s productive intelligence and the strategic importance of a platform, such as Italy for Movies, that provides an essential tool in guiding the development of the national audiovisual industry. Our collaboration with Italy for Movies means we can give substantial recognition to those who transform our land into stories with vision and artistic verve, thereby promoting an Italy that excites, inspires and attracts”.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for Saturday 5 July, the closing evening of the Ischia Film Festival, in the unique, iconic setting of the Aragonese Castle; additional proof of the Festival's commitment to promoting a continuous and profound dialogue between cinema and territory.
