A new international production from Palomar and Bron Studios, supported by the Apulia Film Commission, is coming to Apulia, promising to make the Murge plateau a new “frontierland”. That Dirty Black Bag is a Western series with three seasons of eight episodes planned, directed by Irish Brian O'Malley and Italian Mauro Aragoni.
Shooting in Italy will take place until mid-January at least in various areas of the Murge plateau: including the Jesce masseria in Altamura, Garagnone masseria in Poggiorsini and the old De Laurentis wine producing factory in Santeramo. The Fiera del Levante in Bari will house interiors built in typical Western style and outdoor sets.
The story, inspired by Sergio Leone’s unforgettable dollar trilogy and first developed for the web by Aragoni who shot on a tiny budget in Sardinia in 2014, focusses on a head hunter who carries a mysterious black bag as he hunts for two bandits in 1800s Mexico. The main part is played by the Australian Travis Fimmel, known for his performance as Ragnar in the Vikings TV series.
