The International Documentary Festival “Visions from the World” opens submissions to the “Visioni Incontra” Contest

21-03-2021

The 7th International Documentary Festival “Visions from the World”, devised, founded and directed by Francesco Bizzarri with the artistic direction of Maurizio Nichetti and scheduled to take place in Milan on 16-19 September, has opened a call for submissions for documentary projects, presently works in progress, to the “Visioni Incontra 2021” contest in the Industry section of the Festival.

Dedicated to industry professionals and accessible by invitation only, “Visioni Incontra” will be held in person, health emergency permitting, on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 September. A new feature for 2021 is the contest opening to international projects looking for financing, in contrast to previous all-Italian editions. Submissions to the Visioni Incontra 2021 contest may be made from 16 March to 7 June, the entry form is available on the Festival website: www.visionidalmondo.it.

Independent productions and co-productions that have already secured financing for 30% of their estimated budgets are eligible for selection. The Visioni Incontra contest will select Italian and international feature-length documentaries with special reference to contemporary reality on the basis of their artistic quality, unique content, relevance of themes, potential for international distribution and financial feasibility.

The chosen projects will be presented at a pitching session to a public of industry professionals followed by individual (one to one) meetings for financing, co-productions and distribution agreements. The winning project will be assigned the “Visioni Incontra Best Documentary Project” award.

The International Documentary Festival “Visions from the World” will again take place at the Litta Theatre and the “Leonardo da Vinci” National Museum of Science and Technology. As in previous years, the museum will again be a cultural partner of the Festival.
