The app allows the user to see the interiors of the submarine for themselves, while a narrative voice tells them about its history and how the submarine was used. As they are exploring, users may come across a PlayStation. Plot

The Enrico Toti S-506 was the first submarine to be built in Italy after the Second World War. It was launched in 1967 and remained operational until the end of the 1990s. Since 2005 it has been on display in Milan at the Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology. In 2015 the Museum released a free virtual reality app that allows the user to explore the submarine first-hand in two modes: one more traditional ‘explore the boat’ mode, a sort of interactive guided tour, and ‘rapid immersion – adventure on board’, a point-and-click adventure set on the boat in 1990 on a mission in the Mediterranean Sea during which the player must carry out a series of actions on board aimed at pulling off rapid immersion. The app is proof that museums can make themselves into a precious source of multiple narratives and video game experiences.
