Set between Parma and the Romagna Riviera, the story of the dancer, Aida, begins when she is abandoned by Marcello who lives in Villa Levi-Tedeschi, an elegant neo-classical residence in the hamlet of San Pancrazio just outside Parma. His brother, Lorenzo, ends up taking care of her, accompanying her through the streets of Parma and finding a place for her to stay at the Jolly Hotel, today the Hotel Toscanini. Don Pietro, the boy’s tutor, meets the woman outside the Galleria Nazionale Pilotta where she thinks she has an appointment with Marcello and, once inside, asks her to leave Parma. She returns to the seaside beach club in Rimini that employs Piero, her former boyfriend and leader of the band with whom she previously performed as a singer. The club is in Milano Marittima, hamlet of Cervia (RA), 30km north of Rimini.
