Serra Pedace is a mountain hamlet in the municipality of Casali del Manco (province of Cosenza), located at 726m above sea level on a spur of river Cardone. The residential centre is surrounded by chestnut woods and includes various places of architectural and religious interest including the Church of St. Donatus of Arezzo (1564) which has a triple portal entrance with double staircase and an internal layout on a Latin cross with four altars and superb wooden choirstalls.
The streets are lined with elegant ancient portals including the 18th century entrance to Palazzo Campagna and the 17th century rococo version with floral designs and spirals of Palazzo Mollo-Adami. A monumental black poplar tree, 12.5m high with a 420cm circumference, stands in piazza Vittorio Veneto, near the Church of the Immaculate Conception (1542).
On the outskirts of the village, lake Ariamacina is a manmade reservoir built in the 1950s when the Neto river was dammed to create hydroelectricity. The lake blends perfectly into the surrounding natural environment, surrounded by the forests of the Sila range and wide plains. The area was designated a nature oasis in 2002 to protect migrating birds. The village of wooden cabins, Silvana Mansio, also belongs to this territory.
