The Oratory of San Quirino, in the historical centre of Parma, was founded by Carmelite monks in 1331 not far from the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine. It was originally dedicated to St. Angelo taking his name until 1335. In the 18th century the Confraternity of the Blessed Virgin of Carmel had it demolished and built a more elegant version, the present-day Baroque style building designed by Edelberto della Nave.
The Church, owned by the municipality, was abandoned and deconsecrated in 1903. It has an octagonal layout and an oval cupola. The façade was originally decorated with a fresco by Giovanni Bolla of a Madonna and Child, only a few traces remain today. Bolla also painted the Assumption in glory on the cupola, the Saints in the heights and the monochrome figures in the apse. The plaster statues in the niches are by Pietro Reti.
