Poggio Vittiano, a hamlet of Varco Sabino (RI), is a perfectly conserved medieval borgo in the valle del Cicolano. The ruins of the ancient castle, once part of the feudal lands of San Salvatore Maggiore, as written testimony in the 13th century attests, rise amidst vegetation and lake Salto.
The three churches in the centre, Sant’Anastasio, San Liberatore and Santa Maria Assunta, are all medieval in origin. A wonderful view point can be found outside the village, near a small rural church built on a spur of tuff rock.
