Museo Civico Pier Alessandro Garda in Ivrea (TO) is situated in what was formerly the Convent of St. Clare built in the 14th century. Transformed into a barracks during the Napoleonic era, the cloister and an entire wing of the original building were eliminated in 1835 when the place was repurposed as a square for the grain market. The building became property of the Municipality of Ivrea once again in 1967.
Reopened in 2014 with a new exhibition route, periodical rotation of the collection and the addition of temporary exhibitions and events, the museum is divided into a significant archaeological section, a prestigious oriental art collection and the Croff collection from the art collector and brother in law to the patron Lucia Guelpa.
