Villa Fracanzan Piovene in Orgiano (Vicenza), south of the Berici Mountains, is one of the most interesting villas in the Veneto region. Built in 1710 by the Baroque architect Francesco Muttoni, it stands at the centre of a monumental complex of ancient buildings.
On the ground floor, the villa develops around the hall of columns, which leads to the billiard room, the plebiscite room with historic artefacts and the dining room with period dishes and services.
The kitchen has collections of utensils and copper pans and a 16th century red marble sink designed by Farinati of Verona which, it is said, Napoleon wanted to take to the Louvre.
The first floor houses the large ballroom, the ceramics room, bedrooms with canopies, the Napoleonic room, bathrooms and the old ironing room.
The villa is surrounded by a formal garden with box trees and a 40-hectare park enclosed by walls. The complex are features a brolo (a fenced vegetable garden), a hilltop amphitheatre and aligning avenues and fishponds.
The residence also houses a collection of old agricultural tools and vintage tractors.
