Villa San Fermo, in the heart of Lonigo, is located a few kilometres from Vicenza and Verona. Positioned on the lowest foothills of the Berici Mountains, it is immersed in a splendid 30-hectare natural park, 7 of which are planted with vines.
The residence is accessed from the monumental “Entrance of the Rivers” designed by Bagnara: two turrets support the tall gate, enclosing a spectacular structure that recalls the exedra of a Roman aqueduct, surmounted by statues of the rivers of Italy.
Inside it seems as if time has stopped at the time of the Giovanelli princes who acquired the property from the Contarini family, and were responsible for the 19th century transformation of the ancient convent (of which only the Chapel of Sant'Orsola remains) into today's palace.
The elegant architectural structure and splendid 16th century cloister open onto spacious interiors, richly decorated and frescoed, with a succession of reception rooms and lounges. A respectful conservative restoration intervention has, over time, brought to light the refined details of the house that still fascinate today with their sumptuous richness.
