The medieval village of Cordovado (Pordenone) is immersed in an agricultural landscape on the Friuli plain between San Vito al Tagliamento and Portogruaro.
Cordovado preserves numerous valuable medieval and Renaissance monuments: the ancient Parish Church of Sant'Andrea, a 15th century single-nave church, houses numerous works from the 15th to the 18th centuries; the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grazie, a jewel of Venetian Baroque art built in 1603 following an apparition of the Madonna; the Oratory of Santa Caterina d'Alessandria (14th century), houses precious frescoes from the 14th and 16th centuries; the Church of San Girolamo in Castello (14th century); the ancient Franciscan convent of Santa Maria di Campagna (16th century); and the Church of Sant'Antonio Abate (late 17th century).
The picturesque historic centre of the village also features numerous period buildings: 17th century Palazzo Freschi Piccolomini built by the noble Attimis family, with an elegant facade, majestic entrance door and a large park that extends into the countryside behind; Palazzo del Capitano and Palazzo Agricola, both in Renaissance style, embellished with large arches on the ground floor and triple windows; Palazzo Bozza-Marrubini, known for its impressive 18th century fresco cycle which depicts corners of the ancient village; the mighty but sober 16th century Palazzo Beccaris-Nonis which features a portico with three large arches; Palazzo Cecchini, Mainardi e Marzin with a medieval-style façade, now home to the municipal library; the Palazzo Municipale already built by 1606; and residential Villa Segalotti dating to the 18th century.
