Public call fof support for audiovisual productions in Calabria - 2024

This call aims to promote the region, increase visibility of its natural and artistic heritage, develop the local tourism sector, raise awareness of the cultural, landscape and environmental resources and showcase the historical, cultural, religious, economic, social, popular and anthropological traditions of Calabria.

The overall budget of €5,900,000 is allocated as follows:

  • Category A - BENEFICIARIES: SMEs and Large Enterprises
    • A1 - €2,000,000 - Films/feature films, TV dramas/ series, genre works (factual, docufiction, docufilm) with a total production cost equal to or greater than €3,000,000; 
    • A2 - €1,900,000 - Films/feature films, TV dramas/ series, genre works (factual, docufiction and docufilm); 
  • Category B - € 800,000 - Documentary: BENEFICIARIES: SMEs and Large Enterprises;
  • Category C - €200,000 - Short films: BENEFICIARIES: SMEs and Large Enterprises
  • Category D - € 800,000 - Films/feature films, TV dramas/ series, genre works (factual, docufiction, docufilm):  BENEFICIARIES: SMEs only.

  • Category A1: € 500,000
  • Category A2: € 300,000
  • Category B: € 200,000
  • Category C: € 20,000
  • Category D: € 200,000

Applications for CATEGORY A – A1 must meet the following requirements:

  1. the total production cost of the project must be equal to or greater than € 3,000,000;
  2. the project must have an international distribution plan proven by contracts or letters of intent;
  3. expenditure in the region cannot be less than the amount of the contribution granted;
  4. production plan must include two weeks (minimum) of work in Calabria; a week is understood as five working days, not necessarily consecutive.

Applications for CATEGORY A – A2 must meet the following requirements:

  1. the project must have a national and/or international distribution plan proven by contracts or letters of intent;
  2. expenditure in the region must be equal to 130% (minimum) of the contribution granted;
  3. production plan must include two weeks (minimum) of work in Calabria; a week is understood as five working days, not necessarily consecutive. 

Applications for CATEGORY B must meet the following requirements:

  1. expenditure in the region must be equal to 130% (minimum) of the contribution granted.
  2. production plan must include two weeks (minimum) of work in Calabria; a week is understood as five working days, not necessarily consecutive.

Applications for CATEGORY C must meet the following requirements:

  1. expenditure in the region must be equal to 130% (minimum) of the contribution granted.
  2. production plan must include one week (minimum) of work in Calabria; a week is understood as five working days, not necessarily consecutive.

Applications for CATEGORY D may only be submitted by SMEs and must meet the following requirements:

  1. a national and/or international distribution plan proven by binding contracts or letters of intent;
  2. expenditure in the region must be equal to 130% (minimum) of the contribution granted;
  3. production plan must include at least two weeks of work in the Calabrian territory; a week is understood as five working days, not necessarily consecutive.

Calabria Film Commission will disburse the grant as follows:

  • advance: upon written request, equal to 40% of the grant, on signature of the Convention and presentation of the appropriate bank guarantee;
  • final payment of the remaining 60%, or the entire amount of the grant, on delivery of the required paperwork.

  • Work on the project may not begin before the grant application has been submitted.
  • Expenses are eligible from the day after the date of the application submission.
  • All activities on the project must be concluded within 18 months from the date that the grant is allocated.  All the eligible expenses must be invoiced and paid by the beneficiary within this date.
