Description

The call for proposals pertains to the allocation of grants for the year 2023 for the production of feature-length films for theatrical release which are co-productions or international partnerships where the Italian producer is the minority participant.

The call for proposals has a budget of €6 million, which will be divided into two selection rounds awarding €3 million each.

Requirements

  • Italian nationality must be requested

The Italian company making the application must:

  • be qualified as an independent producer;
  • operate with the code Ateco 59.11;
  • possess a 20% - minimum - quota of the rights to the work (this quota is reduced to 10% if businesses from more than two countries are involved).

For the work to be considered eligible, certification must be provided to demonstrate that 50% - minimum - of the financing required to cover the majority coproducer’s quota of production cost has been secured.

Payment schedule

The contribution is paid as follows:

  • within 12 months from the date of publication of the selection results, the beneficiary may request an advance of 60% of the grant awarded;
  • The Directorate-General Cinema and Audiovisual will release the funds within 60 days;
  • the remainder of the grant must be requested within 24 months from the date of publication of the selection results (36 months for animation projects).
  • The Directorate-General Cinema and Audiovisual will release the remainder within 90 days.
