Description

 This call for applications aims to involve communities of immigrants residing on a permanent basis in Italy in projects that recognise and promote different cultures.

To this end, the fund provides support to public or private bodies looking to do one of the following things:

  • hold film events involving films by mainly foreign directors that express communities of immigrants residing on a permanent basis in Italy or promote lesser-known film industries and are aimed at the general public, with the aim of encouraging mutual awareness of the different communities living in Italy, or film events that broach the theme of integration of foreigners in Italy, particularly second-generation foreigners;
  • make one of the following types of short films focusing on the culture and everyday lives of communities of immigrants residing on a permanent basis in Italy, with a particular focus on issues affecting second-generation immigrants:
    • fictional short films (maximum 15 minutes)
    • documentary short films (maximum 74 minutes)
    • animated short films (between 1.5 and 3 minutes)

Requirements

Beneficiaries must ensure that they have another form of funding covering at least 20% of the cost of the entire project.

Applicants must be partners with, or request to become a partner of one of the following:

  • organisations representing communities of immigrants residing on a permanent basis in Italy with articles/a memorandum of association providing for cultural activities;
  • second-generation foreigner organisations;
  • bodies in the register of organisations and bodies that are active in the fight against discrimination.

Payment schedule

The DG Cinema may grant, at the applicant’s request and depending on the funds available, 50% of the grant in advance.

The remaining amount will be paid upon completion of the project and submitting a report and final balance, along with a final list of all expenses.

Notes

Fictional and documentary short films must be completed by 31 July 2018.

Animated short films must be completed by 31 January 2019.

Film events must be held in June/July 2018.
