In 1975 Fabrizio De André decided to make a childhood dream of his come true and bought the Agnata estate in the Tempio Pausania countryside in Gallura: 150 hectares of land comprising woods, pastures and farmland, along with an old run-down farmhouse, with the dream of turning it into an agricultural estate and a dairy farm.
It was a dream that was fully realised in 1979, when, between one travelling show and the next, the singer-songwriter and his wife Dori Ghezzi moved into the Agnata permanently.
The years spent there left a strong mark on Fabrizio’s life, in touch with real life and the Sardinian people, whose customs and dialect he observed from up close. This experience, including when he was kidnapped with his wife in 1979, inspired a number of songs and poems.
This documentary on the Sardinian period of De Andre’s life is accompanied by music performed and recorded live during the 2005 and 2011 editions of the Festival Time in Jazz, during which various artists pay tribute to the musician, who passed away at a young age.
