Plot

Beppe, Umberto, and Gigi are awaiting the arrival of Toni, Umberto’s son, to celebrate his newfound freedom together. Umberto, separated from two wives, is a failed musician who has run his father's business into the ground. Recently disinherited by his aunt, Gigi is drunk and wearing one of her old wigs in protest. Plumber Beppe has a very intrusive mother and is rumoured to have never had a girlfriend. Cocky and street-smart, Toni is constantly in and out of prison for petty crimes. This is, in other words, the most unruly group: an unchanging microcosm, gathered together at a lake of jarring beauty. Something is about to happen, something cataclysmic with shocking and hilarious consequences. After a drunken evening at the local bar, they are returning home when the car hits something, or rather, someone. Making the first in a series of increasingly bad decisions, the four flee and hide out in Umberto's house. This is just the start of a long night of twists and turns, paradoxical and ridiculous situations, encounters and clashes between the group and the unlikely figures that populate this interminable day until an unimaginable solution arrives at first light.
