Description

Located in western Umbria, Città della Pieve stands in a panoramic position on a table-shaped hilltop overlooking Valdichiana and nearby Lake Trasimeno.

While the historical centre has conserved a typical Medieval urban plan, traces of architectural elements reflecting Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and Neoclassical taste demonstrate the artistic vitality of the town. Notable monuments include Torre Civica (12th century), Torre del Vescovo, a watch tower probably built in 1326, the Rocca (1326) with its five towers, Palazzo della Corgna (16th century) which houses the municipal library and exhibitions, Palazzo Bandini (16th century) and Palazzo Baglioni (18th century).
