The Pusiano quarry (Como) was a mine for several decades in the last century. Abandoned in the 1980s, it was used as a dump for toxic waste before being reclaimed by the Municipality of Pusiano.
Situated near Pusiano lake in a fascinating location, the quarry represents the culmination of a process that began in the early 19th-century, when prolonged mining activity carved a vast open space in the mountainside, a volume of one million cubic metres, accessible only through two tunnels dug into the rock.
Thanks to the unique location and excellent acoustics, it became a venue for musical, theatrical, cultural, and entertainment events, inaugurated in 2004.
