The Villa Beatrice Nature Museum in Baone (Padua) stands atop monte Gemola in a commanding position. Built as a monastery, it was transformed in 1657 into a residence with the appearance it bears today. Restored in the early 1980s, it was intended to house a Euganean Hills Nature Museum.
The façade of the main building has conserved a monastic severity with parsimonious use of decorative elements. Inside, the layout is typical of the Venetian noble villa, with a central salon and rooms leading off it. The central reception room has a double ceiling and is decorated with a Murano glass chandelier, a 17th century gallery and a wooden coffered ceiling.
The noble Oratory of St. John Baptist attached to the villa is also noteworthy. The museum display includes sections on the insects, reptiles, amphibians, birds and flora of the Euganean Hills.
