Gianni Caproni Airport – Trento

Aeroporto di Trento

Description

Gianni Caproni airport (also known as Trento-Mattarello) is located south of the city of Trento in the suburb of Mattarello. The first airport in Trento was built in 1914 by the Austrians; destroyed during the war, the site was relocated in 1969 to its current position. Surrounded by the mountains of the Adige valley, it is the perfect arrival point for the city, the Trentino mountains or lake Garda.
The airport is used by national and European tourist air traffic and welcomes tourist planes, gliders and helicopters. It offers a private transport for passengers, goods and medical transport. It is equipped with fuel refuelling pumps, aircraft parking both outside and in the hangars, and 150 car parking spaces in covered and uncovered parking lots.
The structure also houses the Gianni Caproni Aviation Museum and the headquarters of the Helicopter Unit of the province of Trento.
