Filming is underway in Trentino on the new installment of the popular British black comedy series The Cleaner about Paul "Wicky" Wickstead, the UK's most beloved crime scene cleaner, played by Greg Davies. In the Christmas-themed fourth season, a ski holiday in Italy becomes a surreal investigation full of twists and turns.
Produced by London-based Studio Hamburg UK, directed by Tom Marshall and written by Greg Davies, the miniseries shoots for two weeks (20-31 July 2026) in charming San Martino di Castrozza, in the heart of the Dolomites, at the foot of the Pale di San Martino within the Paneveggio Natural Park. The village has hosted several Italian television productions in the past, including the drama A New Life starring Anna Valle. Filming locations in the area included the Hotel Stalon in San Martino di Castrozza, which had already scheduled a temporary closure for renovations, and Passo Rolle, the picturesque Alpine pass in the province of Trento that connects the Primiero and Fiemme valleys.
Filming will require a crew of 52, including 12 international professionals; executive production in Italy by Albolina Film, based in Bolzano.
In addition to the collaboration of the Trentino Film Commission, the series also benefits from production support from the second 2026 call for proposals from the IDM Film & Music Commission Südtirol.
