The current name refers to the two villas that make up the administrative center: Laguna and Musté progressively brought together by the building evolution into a rather uniform urban fabric.
Laguna is located on the valley bottom on partly recent and partly fluvial-glacial soils. Instead, it is collected on the orographic terrace of the eastern slope of Monte Gac. Center rich in valuable rustic houses-noble and typical peasant houses, Cavedine boasts very ancient origins. The heart of the internal road system of the country Piazza Italia, the most authoritative example of the village square of the valley as an architectural complex in harmonious cohesion with the aristocratic and bourgeois buildings, landowners and peasants, and the aggregates that conform it. The urban form of Musté instead, indicative of its physical terrace and historical matrix of Pieve, is highlighted by ranks of rustic houses - noble and isolated houses that surround Piazza Garibaldi. The entire area between the mountains and the valley has given an important material of various ancient ages, starting from the Neolithic period, preserved in various museums. From the Middle Ages, land and real estate assets boasted in Cavedine and its Pieve, the bishopric, the castellans of Madruzzo, Arco Seiano, the Benedictine monastery of S. Lorenzo in Trento, the parish, the noble minor vassals of the bishop and noble families rural.
