Villa Leoni is located in Tremezzina, a sprawling municipality that comprises Lenno, Mezzegra, and Tremezzo and overlooks the western shore of lake Como, an area that has been a destination for aristocratic tourism since the 18th century.
Built between the 1930s and 1940s by architect Pietro Lingeri (1894-1968) in quintessential Rationalist style, the villa has a square plan, stone walls, brick and concrete floors, and features that were innovative for the time, such as the double staircase that culminates on the “night floor” with lake-view terraces. With pastel-coloured walls and black-and-white mosaic floors that accentuate the brightness of the spaces, the villa has a single-pitched roof and large panoramic windows that create an unbroken connection with the surrounding environment.
Located opposite Comacina Island, it is set in a private park of over 5,500 square meters featuring maritime pines and olive trees.
The villa, renovated in recent years while respecting its original form, has been included in a territorial enhancement program to promote the rediscovery of this perfect example of Rationalist architecture nestled in one of Lake Como's most evocative landscapes.
