The Torre dei Corsari dunes are located in the namesake hamlet of the municipality of Arbus, along the Green Coast of western Sardinia. This is an extensive dune system stretching about one and a half kilometres inland behind a long sandy beach. The dunes are composed of fine golden sand, with ochre hues, and reach heights ranging from 30 to 50 metres, with some crests exceeding 80 metres. Sculpted by the persistent mistral wind, they form an imposing, almost surreal natural landscape, reminiscent of coastal desert scenery.
Patches of Mediterranean scrub vegetation, including juniper, mastic, rosemary, and myrtle, intersperse the dunes and the backshore, creating a vivid chromatic contrast between green and ochre. Overlooking the bay stands the Flumentorgiu Tower, a coastal watchtower from the 16th–17th century, offering a striking architectural and landscape feature.
The area is easily accessible via local road and offers large parking spaces suitable for production vehicles and campers. The layout of the terrain allows for the movement and positioning of light vehicles and support equipment for filming. The ample width of both the beach and the dune field makes it possible to set up filming areas and support points without altering the integrity of the landscape. The sea can be accessed by small support boats. The site is not subject to military restrictions, but it is an environmentally protected area, so filming activities require specific permits to ensure its preservation.
