Piazza della Vittoria, known as piazza Maggiore until 1924, is the heart of the city of Lodi, and the setting for the Cathedral Basilica of the Virgin of the Assumption, Palazzo Broletto which houses the Town Hall and Palazzo Vistarini. It has a quadrangular shape and porticoes on all four sides.
In medieval times, it hosted executions, fairs, and celebrations for the arrival of bishops. Now pedestrianized, it hosts a twice-weekly market.
