An ancient castle on Riva del Garda situated on a manmade islet, the Rocca di Riva has conserved an austere yet elegant appearance despite a range of alterations. It features walls of stone or cement, four corner towers, and small entrance bridge over a moat that reflects the gardens and trees.
Built in the 12th century to defend the village, it became a holiday residence with gardens and frescoed rooms during the Renaissance.
Today, Rocca di Riva houses MAG - Museo Alto Garda, which focuses on the history of Garda Trentino, with an exhibition route that leads from the Bronze Age to the 1900s, and an art gallery of works that demonstrate the unique features of figurative production in the area.
