Where it was filmed 'Ride'

Set entirely in a hyper technological version of today, Ride is almost like a cinematic version of an action videogame. Shot almost entirely with GoPros (using up to 20 at the same time) and using frenzied perspectives, an unrelenting score and a reality-style voiceover, its style blurs the distinction between film and videogame for the viewer.

The setting for the downhill race where Max and Kyle compete goes unnamed in the film, however its real location is in the bike parks of Trentino, where the film was shot in its entirety. The location is perfectly in tune with the dynamism and unpredictability of the breath-taking race sequences and the characters set off from the snow-covered Cima Rosetta, on the Pale di San Martino Plateau, where a vast bike area offers 3 different downhill routes: wall ride, parabolic curve and jump line.

Shooting of the characters’ acrobatic performances continued on the downhill circuits of the Altopiano della Paganella, which has three bike parks (Fai, Andalo, Molveno), then in the Canyon Rio Sass in the Val di Non, and the dark tunnels and unusual orange-coloured, geometric structure of Fort Pozzacchio (the last fortress built by the Austro-Hungarians), in the municipality of Trambileno, Vallagarina. The lush, green woods where the boys bump into the technological monoliths were shot in the surroundings of the Laghetti del Leno, natural pools in the Valle di Terragnolo created between the rocks by the movement of the Leno stream.
