The Church of the Madonna della Rocca in Satriano di Lucania (PZ) perched on a rocky spur near the Melandro river, was originally dedicated to the Madonna della Natività. Expanded and partly rebuilt during its history, it has an entrance portal in carved stone and a marble altar holding a statue of the Madonna, which was recovered intact when part of the cliff where the church is located crumbled in 1814. At the summit of the rock is a small bell which popular tradition holds was used in the past to ward off storms.
