Fratta Todina (PG), which grew up around a medieval castle belonging to the Bishop of Todi, passed to Braccio da Montone in the early 15th century, returning to the dominion of Todi later on.
Many buildings and monuments in the historical centre have recently been restored, including a part of the castle walls built between the 13th and 14th centuries; the Bishops Palace (17th century); and the Parish Church (1654) built by Cardinal Altieri in front of the ancient Church of San Savino, which was incorporated into Palazzo Altieri leaving the apse and other elements visible near the bell tower. Construction on Palazzo Altieri, the most imposing architectural work in town, began in the late 1500s under commission from Cardinal Angelo Cesi, while Cardinal Giambattista Altieri was responsible for enlarging it and adding imaginative water features between 1643-1654, bringing it to the peak of its beauty. The Palazzo has a gallery, frescoed by the Roman School with Biblical scenes, whose small loggia overlooks a fountain.
The ancient Franciscan convent of Santa Maria della Spineta nearby offers a picturesque and panoramic view of the entire Tiber Valley from Perugia to Todi: the cloister dates to 1394 while the Church of the Vergine Assunta is late 18th century.
