The Maresca Forest, also known as the Teso Forest, is a wooded area covering approximately 2,000 hectares north of Pistoia, extending from San Marcello Pistoiese to Orsigna.
Crossed by the river Maresca, it is used as a hunting reserve. Its vegetation is tall trees, mostly beech, chestnut and fir.
Wildlife here includes, deer, chamois, mountain goat, boar, mouflon, linsang, badger, porcupine, common fox, some wolves and a variety of mustelids. There are also dunnock and song thrush and several kinds of woodpeckers.
The casetta dei Pulledrari is the starting point for itineraries through the forest or the surrounding areas. It also offers food and e-bike rental.
