The film was shot in and around Orvieto. Locations in the Umbrian town include: the "Porta d'Orvieto" shopping centre; the former Piave barracks, which served as a police station; the historic centre; the Bardano area; and the countryside of Castelgiorgio. Other locations included: the Marmore waterfall in Terni and the Montalto di Castro area in the province of Viterbo.

A mysterious woman (Eva) who lives in the woods sets fire to a sunflower field. Once arrested, she explains to the police that she did it because children are in danger and must be protected. She claims to have a mission, she talks like a preacher, like a Joan of Arc, and she sees strange blue lights in the sky. Her case is linked to strange disappearances of children occurring in the area. But the children seem to willingly follow her. Meanwhile, in China, a woman is desperate when her young daughter falls ill.
