The Il Conte water drainage centre is located in Sala Bolognese (BO), in the area where the river Reno merges with the smaller Samoggia and Lavino water courses. It is the largest of the hydraulic systems built in recent years in Emilia-Romagna to prevent flooding.
The hydraulic system occupies an area of 8,000 hectares that is particularly fragile because of subsidence caused by the aquifer below. The drainage pump system aims to increase the present 7 cubic metres of water being moved every second to 21 cubic metres a second in due course.
