The scientific knowledge centre Infini.to is located on the Pino Torinese hill, next to the astrophysics observatory of Torino, a research structure that is part of the National Institute of Astrophysics (Istituto nazionale di Astrofisica – INAF), and includes the Interactive Museum of Astronomy and Space (Museo interattivo dell’Astronomia e dello Spazio) and the digital Planetarium. Established in 2007, the museum evokes the binary system in its structure representing a star, i.e., the sphere that contains the planetarium, and its black hole, i.e. the building housing the museum itself.
The planetarium, with an advanced projection system, offers the opportunity to travel through the sky and universe. The museum, meanwhile, provides interactive installations and practical exhibits to aid discovery of astrological themes: simulations of travel to Mars and the force of gravity on Jupiter, manipulation of the magnetic field, a 3D look at the universe and a walk through the stars. The exhibit about the universe and mankind’s related progress unfolds from the entrance across the three storeys of the museum.
