The Jewish cemetery is located just outside the town of Merano, behind the main train station, and can easily be reached on foot. It was established in the early 19th century when the Jewish community of Merano was in great expansion. Around the same time, various other facilities were built, including kosher hotels, a sanatorium and a synagogue which now houses the Jewish museum. Set in a tranquil park and surrounded by trees, the cemetery has numerous stone and marble markers, many who died in the two World Wars are buried here.
