Passignano sul Trasimeno (PG) is the main town on the northern shores of Lake Trasimeno. The oldest nucleus of the town has kept the appearance of an intact fortified borgo, enclosed within medieval walls, whose access gates and towers, such as the so-called torre di Ponente, emblazoned with the Comune’s crest still stand. The rocca, a medieval fortress, rises in the highest part of town, and houses the Museum of Boats, which exhibits some ancient examples of lake boat. Buildings of artistic value include: the cemetery Church dedicated to St. Christopher, an ancient parish church built before 1000 CE on the ruins of a pagan temple, and the Sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Uliveto, which houses paintings and sculptures.
