This monumental beech forest, whose ancient, colossal trees have moss-covered aerial roots that cover the ground, is located in the hamlet of Pratone di Monte Gennaro in San Paolo dei Cavalieri, inside the Regional Nature Reserve of the Lucretili Mountains (province of Rome). A beech forest is a very biodiverse natural setting and Italy has some of the oldest in Europe. One of the ancient trees is considered a natural monument given its age and the size of its trunk.
