Leonardo di Costanzo’s feature film L’intrusa follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, L’intervallo, in the way that it addresses social dynamics through documentary-style film. The backdrop is Naples, and more specifically the Ponticelli district, in the eastern area of the city.
It is in this very district and, more specifically, the Masseria Morabito, that the after-school recreational centre run by Giovanni (Raffaella Giordano) is located. This place becomes a refuge, an unspoiled oasis of happiness for local children, who would otherwise be exposed to the opportunistic ways of the Camorra. But the hospitable and welcoming atmosphere is jeopardised by the arrival at the centre of Maria (Valentina Vannino), the wife of a criminal accused of murder.
Mistrust and the desire to protect what has been built lead those involved with the centre to ask themselves whether Giovanna’s decision to take in the girl really was the right one.

In the Neapolitan suburbs, Giovanna runs a recreational centre to keep children from straying into the criminal underworld after school. The calmness of the place is however disturbed by the arrival of young Maria and her two children, who are discovered to be the family of a member of the Camorra accused of murder.
