Comedian and cabaret artist Peppe Iodice stars in Mi batte il corazon, which he co-wrote with Francesco Burzo, Marco Critelli, and Francesco Prisco.
The comedy, directed by Prisco, draws inspiration from the play "Ho visto Maradona" (I Saw Maradona), the story of Peppe Iovine, a journalist for a small local station who leads a quiet, mediocre life until he dies from a heart attack. When he wakes in his coffin during his funeral, a personal hell begins: he's dead to the State, a mystery to his wife, and “the one who saw Maradona" to the neighbourhood.
The cast includes Ivana Lotito, Francesco Procopio, Yari Gugliucci, Ivan Castiglione, Gianni Ferreri, Maria Bolignano, Francesco Mastandrea, Nicola Bello, Gianni Parisi, Alan De Luca; the participation of Antonio Milo and Gigi Savoia; the friendly participation of Mimmo Manfredi; and, for the first time on screen, Sofia and Gloria Iodice.
Set in Naples and its province, Mi batte il corazon is produced by Alessandro and Andrea Cannavale for Run Film in collaboration with Gino Sorbillo, 88 Miglia, Pinzimonio Hub, Kosmos Srl, with the support of Teatro Troisi and Napoli Canale 21, and of Caffè Toraldo, Cuori di Sfogliatella, Anfra, Dodecà – Gruppo Multicedi, Vulcano Buono, BCC Banca di Credito Cooperativo Napoli. The DP is Emilio Costa, editing by Davide Franco, original music by Adriano Pennino, costumes by Martina Picciola, and sets by Pasquale Topo.

Peppe Iovine, a journalist at a small local station, leads a quiet, mediocre life until he suffers a heart attack and dies. Game over. Or so it seems. However, in the midst of his funeral the next day, Peppe wakes up in his coffin. From there begins a personal hell: he is dead to the state, a mystery to his wife, and "the one who saw Maradona" to the neighbours. Convinced that he truly met him in the afterlife, Peppe decides to change his life: he will always tell the truth, and no longer be afraid of anything or anyone. But the truth can be a dangerous weapon. Navigating absurd bureaucracy, explosive confessions, and moments of disarming tenderness, Peppe discovers that perhaps second chances aren't about redemption... but about truly understanding oneself.
