Non riattaccare by Manfredi Lucibello, freely inspired by Alessandra Montrucchio’s story of the same name, focusses on Irene (Barbara Ronchi) and Pietro (Claudio Santamaria), former partners linked by an all-encompassing, suffering love, as they are surrounded by the silence and solitude of the pandemic lockdown.
Irene’s phone rings on a night during lockdown: Pietro. They split up months before, Irene hesitates, but then she answers. Pietro is out of his mind and his confused words suggest he is thinking of committing a desperate act. Irene has no choice but to set off through a spectral Rome, keeping him on the phone line, in the hope of reaching him in time at his seaside house. It's a race against time. But as she travels there in her car, a question forms: is it only Pietro who needs to be saved?
The film was shot entirely at night, in Rome and on the Santa Marinella seafront where Pietro's house is located. Part of the journey takes place on the A12 motorway, between Rome and Civitavecchia.
