Lyda Patitucci’s debut film, Come pecore in mezzo ai lupi | Like Sheep Among Wolves, is a crime thriller with a female protagonist (Isabella Ragonese). A film of contrasts, it is both intimate and action-packed, a dark story with warm tones. Two estranged siblings, whose relationship has deteriorated over time, are presented with a new, unexpected opportunity. Vera and Bruno (Andrea Arcangeli) unexpectedly find themselves facing each other, in opposite roles, forced to keep the secret that bonds them as they make difficult choices. The cast also includes Carolina Michelangeli, Gennaro Di Colandrea, Aleksandar Gavranic, Alan Katic, Miloš Timotijevic, Clara Ponsot, Gabriele Portoghese, Imma Villa, Tommaso Ragno.
The setting is as dark as the story featuring glimpses of an anonymous Rome, far from the thousand-year-old monuments that gave it the name of Eternal City. Recognizable locations include ponte dell’Industria which connects the banks of the Tiber river in the Ostiense (Via del Porto Fluviale) and Portuense (via Antonio Pacinotti) districts which Vera walks over; and Cinecittà World in Castel Romano, where the siblings meet to discuss while little Marta, Bruno's daughter, is distracted on the fairground rides. The assault on the armoured car takes place in front of the Rationalist architecture of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, in the EUR neighbourhood.
